Why STEM skills are an advantage in a world increasingly driven by technological change

The job market has increasingly demanded professionals prepared to deal with data science. With this in mind, SAS developed the Empowering the Future program, a pioneering and free initiative aimed at interns from client companies with the objective of contributing to the training and career development of young talents.

In this way, companies also have the opportunity, when possible, to retain these talents in vacancies in which knowledge of SAS is recommended. This is what happened at Sicredi with Mariana Meister Coin, who participated in the 2024 edition of the program, when she was still an intern. 

Her experience with the program was very positive: "I really liked it, because SAS Viya, the platform used in the training, is a very cool tool to use. The classes were very pleasant to watch, pointing out many things related to statistics and mathematics, my area of training", he says.

The program's differential is in its accessible and practical format, as Mariana points out: "a course like this, offered the way it was offered, I had really never seen. Generally, we see more in the academic part, but it is always more exclusive and in an academic format, there is not much to talk about work schedules".

Fernando Bastos da Silva, Mariana's manager at Sicredi, also celebrates the former intern's participation in the program: "this type of training helps us a lot. As we work with a very large base of information, today SAS is essential for us to be able to run our processes, because Excel does not support it".

He also recognizes that knowledge in SAS has proven to be an important differential in the market. "People who know SAS are usually more sought after by companies. And I think it's very cool to have a program like this for interns, I think it helps them a lot at the beginning of their careers", she analyzes.
