Your role

This role can be based in either Adelaide, a city fringe Collinswood location with onsite parking, or Ultimo, a central Sydney location close to major transport. 

The ABC Adelaide branch is a great place to work and feel like a part of a team. Nestled in leafy Collinswood and out of the hustle and bustle of the CBD, there is free onsite car parking, a café, and a gym for employees to enjoy.

The ABC Head Office based in Ultimo in Sydney is a great place to work and feel a part of a team. Centrally located in the city, close to public transport, there is a café onsite for employees to enjoy and the nearby aquatic centre and gym offer great rates for employees.

This is an entry-level opportunity for those interested in a career in financial accounting.  Working alongside an established team of experienced financial services specialists, you'll be learning from the best.  

With close guidance and support from the Senior Financial Accountant and other senior Financial Services and Reporting staff your role will involve:

  • Preparation of journals and account reconciliations
  • Provision of assistance and support with the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements
  • Responding to general inquiries
  • Maintaining department filing and financial systems
  • Preparing reports and analyzing variances
  • Input data into systems

Training & development

Many people come to ABC with qualifications in journalism, radio, online, or a relevant course suited to a corporate area. However, there are courses available to keep you up to date with skills or systems unique to the ABC or to keep your industry knowledge relevant.

Their training courses include:

  • Digital skills development;
  • Production skills;
  • Camera skills;
  • Editing skills and associated technology;
  • Desktop Editing for Journalists;
  • Writing for Radio/ Writing for News/ Writing for Television;
  • ABC Editorial Policies;
  • Legal workshops;
  • Core systems including; SAP HR, Finance, Records management, Rights Management, training in IT systems, iNews, and NETIA;
  • A range of OH&S training includes; fatigue management, personal risk assessment, induction, manual handling, first aid, and radiological awareness training.

About you

The ideal candidate will have recently gained their university qualifications in Accounting and be ready to join the workforce in a role where they will provide general financial accounting support across the Financial Services and Reporting department. The successful applicant will receive on-the-job training and mentoring from experienced professionals in all aspects of Financial Accounting.
