Role Overview:

The AOFM is committed to excellence in sovereign financial management and recruitment of high-quality graduates is necessary to support this commitment. Graduate recruits support the ongoing renewal of the AOFM. Whilst working in the AOFM business, graduates will participate in a 12-month tailored development program that will include on-the-job and structured training along with networking opportunities. Formal performance assessment each six months provides opportunities for pay progression. Graduates integrate into AOFM business during and at the end of the development program. Incumbents will build a solid career base.

The successful applicant(s) will work in one of the following groups (Please see the Group description file for more details.) Some suggested fields of study are shown in square brackets after each but the lists are not exhaustive:

  • Business and Data Systems [e.g. data analytics, finance]
  • Enterprise Risk and Assurance [e.g. commerce, business, law]
  • Finance and Settlements [e.g. accounting, commerce]
  • Funding and Liquidity [e.g. finance, commerce]
  • Structured Finance and Strategy [e.g. finance, economics, law]
  • Investor Relations [e.g. economics, finance, communications]
  • Portfolio Strategy and Research [e.g. finance, actuarial studies, economics, applied maths]

Graduates have meaningful work, responsibility and are expected to exercise initiative and curiosity. Graduates also have ongoing exposure to interesting issues through inclusion in AOFM related forums, including through relationships with external stakeholders. Graduates may determine their work priorities subject to guidance by their manager and monitor workflow in their areas of responsibility. For more information, see our website.

Key Activities:

Graduates perform tasks relevant to the assigned work group. Tasks will vary depending on work group but may include:

  • execution of financial transactions for debt and investment management
  • working with a data warehouse including systems testing, report design and production
  • preparation of research or policy papers involving the evaluation of technical information for presentation to senior executives
  • producing financial statements and reports
  • assessing financial and operational risk
  • review of portfolio performance
  • work system improvements
  • other duties as directed
