Here at BNZ, it's about more than just banking. We work together in an agile, energising environment to create innovative solutions through our promise "If you can imagine a better future, let's find a way."

We support wellbeing, flexible working and have a generous leave offering. There is the opportunity for growth, learning and career development. No two days are the same.

Ko mātou tēnei | This is Us

Finished your degree or in your final year? Do you want to help New Zealand's Agricultural and Horticultural industries to thrive?

Our Agribusiness Graduate programme will offer you the opportunity to become part of a business which has a proven track record of turning passionate graduates into outstanding Agribusiness banking professionals.

Mō te Hōtaka | About the Programme

Through a mixture of workshops and on the job training, the programme experience is designed as a foundation to fast track you to a Partner (Relationship Manager) role, where ultimately you will work closely with BNZ customers to help them grow their farming business and support them with their banking needs.

As a Graduate, you'll be matched with BNZ's best Agribusiness banking mentors in an on-the-job training programme which is supplemented by specific relationship management, credit assessment and portfolio management training. You will develop a wide range of skills enabling you to step into a client management or customer support position at the end of the graduate programme.

We have a number of opportunities available throughout Aotearoa New Zealand, with the exact locations still to be confirmed, although we try to match your preference, we appreciate your flexibility and willingness to relocate if successful.

What does a day in the life of an Agribusiness Graduate look like?

No day is the same and this variety is what makes the role so exciting! Our graduates spend their time:

  • Going on customer farm visits with their Agribusiness Partner mentor
  • Assisting with financial analysis for credit applications
  • In on-the job training (either individually or in team situations)
  • Attending professional networking events

What is the team culture & environment like?

BNZ has an inclusive and supportive culture. Our people are passionate about Banking and supportive of each other, even when we make mistakes (we own it and learn from them).

What should the candidate include in their application?

  • A cover letter – to help us to get to know you, which covers your motivation for working at BNZ and your passion for the Agri industry, if you have a preferred location please let us know
  • Your interests outside the classroom - this could include sports, the arts, clubs and community involvement or work experience
  • A strong academic transcript

What skills or attributes will this person have in order to be successful?

We are looking to recruit graduates who are passionate about farming and farming businesses and working with the people that run those businesses.

Most of BNZ's past agribusiness graduates have 'farming in their DNA', either by growing up on farms or through having studied Agribusiness or Agri Commerce at University.

As a ‘people person’ with a positive attitude, you will be an effective communicator with excellent relationship building skills. You must be able to relate well with others.

You will also need to show resilience, be willing to learn and roll up your sleeves and get stuck in.

Ideally, we are looking for a diverse range of talent that is representative of our customers and farming in Aotearoa today, to help us transform Agribusiness banking to enable a high achieving New Zealand.

What are some of the benefits at BNZ?

  • Good pay! We'll pay you right from the outset and as your skills grow, we’ll make regular changes to make sure you're paid competitively.
  • 6 weeks annual leave!
  • Online courses, regular training & career development
  • Staff banking & insurance discounts

Just started a new role so not fully across this. Quite admin heavy, I would prefer to be doing more analysis work but I understand this is a stepping stone.
