We are excited to announce the following Cadet opportunities within our BDO Sydney office commencing in 2019 and 2020.

Audit (commencing December 2019):

BDO offers one of the largest, dedicated Audit services teams in the Australian market today. Our Audit team provide clients with independent credibility for financial statements and constructive solutions toward improving their systems and performance.

Business Services (commencing February 2020):

Our Business Services team offer a full-service platform to assist our clients in building and sustaining the growth of their organisation. Our team of specialists provide services in areas such as accounting outsourcing, buying and selling, family business, business structuring and growth, tax and compliance and wealth management.

Transfer Pricing (commencing December 2019 & February 2020):

BDO Australia's Transfer Pricing practise helps clients navigate the fast-changing transfer pricing environment. We provide a range of planning, compliance, audit defence and benchmarking services; as well as developing transfer pricing policies that are defensible, flexible & in-line with the client's tax planning strategies.

DO YOU QUALIFY?

To be considered for a Cadet opportunity with BDO, you will need to meet the following requirements:

  • Completed your HSC by the end of 2019
  • Currently studying/intending to study a university degree with an accounting major (with eligibility for you to commence further CA study)
  • Customer-focused work experience or involvement in extracurricular activities
  • Strong interpersonal, teamwork and problem-solving skills
  • The motivation for continuous learning and development

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

The Assessment Centre and final interviews will be held on Tuesday,10 September, from 4 pm for Audit applicants and Wednesday, 11 September 2019, from 4 pm for Business Services and Transfer Pricing applicants. We ask that you please keep the applicable date available should you be successful at this stage of the recruitment process.

Pros and cons of working at BDO Australia

Pros

  • The culture in and out of the office is great.

  • My colleagues are always willing to get out of their way to help me.

  • Great opportunity to learn. People are nice and not getting annoyed when I ask questions.

  • Never any pressure to stay late.

  • The training is great, I have learned a lot in my time here.

Cons

    • Pay is relatively low, however this is industry-wide.

    • The graduate program doesn't rotate us through all the service lines.

    • Some managers are great and give constructive feedback. Others do not provide you with proper instructions.

    • Dishwashers are small... toilets are not flushed... desk are most of the time dirty.

    • Could include more women, however this is the industry.
