Service Assurance Coordinator University at Cenitex
Master of Information Technology at University of Melbourne
What's your job about?
As a Service Assurance Coordinator, my role is to oversee external assurance audits and ensure that Cenitex meets its commitments to customers. I coordinate the audit process, track findings, and work with teams across Cenitex to implement any necessary improvements. My job is not just about compliance, it’s about ensuring our services are consistently reliable and meet high-quality standards.
If I had to explain my job to a teenager, I’d say: "I make sure the technology services we provide work as they should, just like a quality-check expert ensuring a video game runs smoothly without glitches."
What's your background?
I grew up in Tehran, where I earned my bachelor’s degree in software engineering. In pursuit of my dreams, I moved to Australia and completed a Master of Information Technology at the University of Melbourne.
My first job in Australia was a six-month UX specialist internship. During this time, I developed an idea for a crowdsourcing mobile app that helps users find accessible places across Australia. Taking a bold step, I pitched my idea to the CEO. He supported it and offered me a full-time role. Within a year, the beta version of the app was launched on both App Store and Google Play.
Seeking career development in a larger organization, I applied for the Graduate Program at Cenitex. This two-year program allowed me to rotate across various divisions, including Infrastructure Services, where I gained hands-on experience with state-of-the-art IT solutions.
After completing the program, I transitioned into my current role as a Service Assurance Coordinator, where I ensure Cenitex meets its commitments to customers through external audits and compliance activities.
Could someone with a different background do your job?
Absolutely! Though ICT/Engineering/Business degrees are helpful, success depends more on key skills: attention to detail, out-of-the-box thinking, and effective stakeholder communication. With the right skills and mindset, a different background can still lead to success in this role.
What's the coolest thing about your job?
The coolest thing about my job is being part of a team that truly supports each other. It’s not just about completing tasks—it’s about growing and improving together. I enjoy problem-solving and finding ways to improve processes, but the most rewarding moments are when my contributions make a real impact—whether it’s helping a teammate, improving efficiency, or ensuring we meet our commitments to customers.
What are the limitations of your job?
One of the biggest limitations of my job is the workload during peak periods, especially as we approach the end of the financial year. This requires strong time management and attention to detail. While the job isn’t physically demanding, it does require focus and the ability to handle multiple tasks under pressure. Anyone considering this role should be prepared for intense periods of work and tight deadlines.
