Pay is very generous and inspires quality work and attitude.
Graduate, Canberra - 21 Nov 2022
Average but my work is more than just money.
Graduate, Canberra - 18 Nov 2022
Very satisfied. After we finish the graduate programme, we are promoted to APS 5s, which is a significant raise!
Graduate, Canberra - 13 Jul 2015
The pay at APS 3 level is really quite low. Following that, it's on the low side of average but a vast improvement.
Graduate, Canberra - 13 Jul 2015
Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development has a generally lower pay scale than most other Departments, but it is still very good in my opinion.
Graduate, Canberra - 13 Jul 2015
The Department is not that well paid compared to other APS departments. My particular position carries a lot of responsibility that is not reflected by pay.
Midlevel, Canberra - 13 Jul 2015
The Department is one of the lowest paid in the Australian Public Service and better alignment with other comparable agencies would be welcome.
Graduate, Canberra - 13 Jul 2015
In comparison to other Federal Departments, Infrastructure is at the lower end of the scale for pay. However, we have generous allowances to compensate, including generous personal leave.
Midlevel, Canberra - 13 Jul 2015
I get decent pay and good conditions. As a government employee it is easy for me to take leave and I am paid a greater amount of super than most other jobs. The take home pay is decent, and increases after I finish my graduate year. I do not get bonuses, but this is not really an issue for me.
Graduate, Canberra - 13 Jul 2015
No bonuses. The pay is one of the lowest of all the Government departments, but still good pay once you finish the graduate program.
Entry level, Brisbane - 13 Jul 2015
No bonuses but pay is very good for the work required
Midlevel, Canberra - 13 Jul 2015
I am very satisfied with my salary. Further, at the end of the graduate year we get a significant promotion and pay rise.

What are your company's best or most unusual perks? For example: free tickets, free dinners, moving expenses, taxis, pension, etc.
Moving expenses (if interstate) as a graduate, some interstate staff get a travel budget when coming into the CBR office.
Midlevel, Canberra - 30 Nov 2022
Moving expenses for interstate graduates, free coffee machines in Canberra office
Graduate, Canberra - 23 Nov 2022
Great after exercise facilities.
Graduate, Canberra - 18 Nov 2022
They gave us a relocation allowance. Not a lot else going on
Graduate, Canberra - 17 Nov 2022
I have been pleasantly surprised by the level of business travel offered in the Australian Public Service, even at junior levels. In just three years I have travelled on business to Brisbane, Sydney (multiple times), Melbourne (multiple times) and even Burma as part of an Australian delegation. The regular opportunities to travel (on Commonwealth business) are a key part of working out of Canberra.

The Department has a Bar which opens every pay-week fortnight on a Friday. Drinks are cheap. The Department covers the cost of moving expenses for Graduate Program employees.
Midlevel, Canberra - 13 Jul 2015
The opportunity to provide value and advance the interests of the Australian people.
Midlevel, Canberra - 13 Jul 2015
As the public service we can't accept perks as such, but we do have very good working conditions compared to other sectors.
Midlevel, Canberra - 13 Jul 2015
I believe the flexible hours and emphasis on work life balance are a real perk.
Entry level, Brisbane - 13 Jul 2015
Excellent annual leave and personal circumstances leave conditions. Superannuation is very generous at 15.4%.
Midlevel, Canberra - 13 Jul 2015
Working for the Government means that you have to be careful about some types of perks. There are however special government deals such as discounts on private health care, extra superannuation and benefits such as paid study leave.
Graduate, Canberra - 13 Jul 2015
Lately it has been the opportunity to attend a variety of conferences and events.
Experienced, Canberra - 13 Jul 2015
Flextime, moving expenses for graduates, taxis, very high superannuation rate, convenient location
