About Deloitte

The Deloitte story begins during the English Industrial Revolution and the beginnings of stock sharing. The Great Western Railway was one of the most famous companies to take part in this new ownership system, but their stock price slumped in 1849 to get out of the debacle, they turned to William Welch Deloitte, an independent public accountant, to audit.

Your role

As an Investment Banking Analyst Intern, you will work side by side with experienced and execution-focused investment bankers, as well as clients from a wide range of industries including consumer & retail, healthcare, business services, and global industries. With a focus on Mergers & Acquisitions (“M&A”), Deloitte's practice advises clients through critical stages of the transaction process and is intimately involved each step of the way. Even as an Intern, you can become a value-added deal team member offering meaningful contributions to the practice.

Responsibilities as an intern:

  • Working closely with client-facing deal teams, you will provide recommendations that are aligned with an organization’s business goals and overall strategic and transactional objectives.
  • Constructing financial models to help clients assess growth strategies, capital structure decisions, and transaction alternatives will help you develop a comprehensive technical skill set.
  • Concurrently, you will employ a number of core valuation methodologies to help businesses evaluate their worth in the marketplace and advise them on appropriate ranges at which to conduct transactions.
  • Also, you will have the opportunity to learn how to appropriately position businesses in the investor community by articulating value propositions and anticipating potential concerns.
  • Across these responsibilities, you will receive considerable exposure to senior bankers and clients as you participate in each phase of the transaction process.

Training & development

Deloitte's internship is structured as a 10-week program that kicks off with preparation from both leading Wall Street training organizations and practice-specific modules led by its professionals. These training modules will provide part of the foundation that will help you to succeed in your internship.  Throughout the program, your leadership and talent professionals will also work to deliver engaging learning and networking opportunities and a variety of social activities to enhance your internship experience.  Along the way, you’ll have access to mentoring, counseling, and training opportunities to help foster and accelerate your development of new skills and capabilities.

Salary & benefits

For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in California, Deloitte is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This compensation range is specific to California and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.

A reasonable estimate of the current range is $25 per hour.

Benefits may include:

  • Real-world exposure to your field of interest.
  • Opportunity to apply classroom knowledge in practical settings.
  • Access to continuous training and skill enhancement.
  • Enjoy a work-life balance with leave options.
  • Flexible work environment.
  • Fitness program.

Career Progression

At Deloitte, interns experience a dynamic career journey, enhancing skills and industry knowledge through hands-on departmental experiences. Excelling interns unlock mentorship, advanced roles, and networking opportunities, facilitating a smooth transition to full-time positions based on performance, all within a diverse and innovative environment. Many of Deloitte's Interns return to the practice full-time following the receipt of their undergraduate degree.

Work-life balance

Deloitte recognizes the importance of personal life balance alongside work-life balance, encouraging leaders to set an example by prioritizing time off and promoting flexible work policies by supporting employees in achieving a healthy integration of work and personal life.
