Your role

The Graduate Program offers a wide range of career pathways. You will gain experience in providing high-quality service to the community, making a positive difference to the lives of others - the opportunities to grow and develop are endless.

As a Graduate Officer, you will take on varied placements assisting in research, information sourcing and gathering, data analysis, project management, coordination and implementation, and development of their technical skills. You will work within multiple workplace environments demonstrating adaptability and self-awareness. You will have the opportunity to apply your education in the workplace while gaining practical skills to kickstart a rewarding career.

The Department of Justice is a complex environment that will require you to apply critical thinking and excellent interpersonal skills.

You will participate in an 18-month development program consisting of three six-month workplace rotations exposing you to various operations and business areas. Your enthusiasm for learning will see you participate in professional learning and development opportunities and build capabilities and networks, both internally and externally to the Department.

The Graduate Program placements may include:

• Corporate Services including Finance, Procurement and Human Resources

About you

They are looking for Graduate Officers from various educational disciplines. They are particularly interested in recruiting people who have studied:

• Government Services Stream - Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, and Policy
• Justice Stream - Legal, Psychology and Criminology

Projects will require you to engage with internal and external stakeholders with high levels of professionalism and integrity. Working in a complex environment you will demonstrate self-awareness and adaptability. You will actively engage in professional development and mentoring opportunities taking away key learnings and utilising them in the workplace.

You will have recently completed your university degree, be interested in a career in the public sector and show awareness around the services delivered by the Department of Justice. Your university transcript will reflect a commitment to your studies.
