Your role

What you will do:

The Economic Development Advisory Services (EDAS) practice provides economic development services and strategies that help communities across the US to thrive. Their clients include economic development organizations, chambers of commerce, state and local governments and workforce agencies. With their assistance, these clients are better able to create new jobs and capital investment, improve workforce development, increase economic mobility, strengthen organizational effectiveness and amplify brand recognition.

As an Intern on their EDAS team, your role will include:

  • Supporting clients and their teams while working to consistently deliver exceptional client service across the engagement lifecycle.
  • Assisting the team with project processes including writing proposals, drafting contracts, managing project logistics, planning resources, reporting on progress and initiating client billing.
  • Participating in stakeholder engagement, conducting research, sharing strategy ideas, and assisting the team with internal project processes.
  • Conducting research and collecting input, including leading practice and trend research, and engaging with clients to gather input and inform solutions through methods such as focus groups, interviews and surveys.

About you

Job requirements and preferences:

  • A predicted undergraduate or graduate degree in Business, Economics, Public Policy, Urban Planning or a related field; supported by a strong academic record.
  • Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills, as well as a strong problem-solving ability, attention to detail and an entrepreneurial approach to work.
  • Strong proficiency and a high level of comfort in engaging with people of various backgrounds and beliefs.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with a demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • The ability and willingness to travel and work more than standard hours when necessary.
  • Access to reliable transportation to/from the EY office and client sites. A driver’s license is strongly recommended as ride-share and public transportation options may not be available in all locations.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or an advanced degree in Taxation or Law; supported by a strong academic record.
  • Familiarity with public economic and demographic data sources, such as the U.S. Census Bureau and the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
  • Familiarity with mapping software, including ArcGIS and CartoDB.
  • Experience building dashboards using data visualization software.

Compensation & benefits

The hourly pay range for this role can range from $34.62 - $40.87.
