What you will do:
As a Tax Technical intern within the Rewards practice, you will work with global clients to understand and address some of their largest and most complex people-related challenges and ultimately improve and drive sustainable business results.
Key responsibilities include:
Developing relevant and flexible tax-compliant compensation, benefit, and incentive approaches for clients, including:
Advising clients on regulatory matters and the taxation of compensation and benefit programs, including U.S. and global programs.
Benchmarking and designing executive and broad-based compensation and benefit arrangements.
Supporting clients in complex transactions (mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures), including:
Conducting financial due diligence on HR, compensation, and benefit programs.
Identifying tax, financial, and regulatory risks related to compensation and benefits and a target company’s broader HR function.
Performing golden parachute / Section 280G calculations in connection with transactions.
Advising on the tax and financial implications and executive compensation broad-based arrangements, including drafting technical memorandums and opinions addressing various Internal Revenue Code Sections, including, but not limited to, 83, 162(m), 280G, and 409A.
Providing support to EY’s Tax, Assurance, and Consulting functions as compensation and benefits subject matter resource.
About you
Required Qualifications:
A predicted undergraduate or graduate degree in Accounting, Human Resources, Business, or Industrial Relations; supported by a strong academic record.
A demonstrable plan for passing the CPA exam for accounting majors or a plan to become an enrolled agent for other majors.
Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong quantitative acumen, including outstanding analytical ability.
Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills.
A driver’s license that is valid in the U.S.
Preferred Qualifications:
3.5 undergrad GPA.
Flexibility and willingness to travel.
Proficiency in MS Office, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint.
Effective project management skills, including effective organization and time management skills with the ability to work under pressure and adhere to project deadlines.
Strong follow-through skills and attention to detail.
Compensation & benefits
The hourly pay range for this job is $39.42 - $43.27.
