I work on manual testing of our whole application, both our micro-service and external vendor application that we use for front end. My responsibilities is to ensure that tickets are well tested and ready to deploy to production with minimal defects and issues. I create test cases for all type of test, functional, progression, regression etc Other than that I am working on automation of our whole application

Pros and cons of working at FDM Group New Zealand

Pros

  • The team - they're always friendly and willing to help

  • The colleagues I work with are great people, willing to teach and hard working. They are also supportive out of work and the work culture is great. The applications and software we work with are probably another good thing I enjoy about working here, it's different from everything I have been taught so far, so it means there is a lot in the IT world that I don't know!

  • Networking and opportunities to learn in various tech spaces

  • Networking and industry breakthrough. Great opportunities

  • The support and training you get from FDM

Cons

    • Job security

    • Not much I can think of at the moment, but the workload can get pretty bad since I was the only QA in our team for a while. But at the same time, I enjoy learning new things and don't mind putting in my own hours to upskill. At times I can say that is bad since the work-life balance is not there, but also it's good.

    • Extended hours and occasional burnout

    • Training sometimes is not specific to what you get into

    • I'd say salary, especially as inflation is pretty high.
