Your role
KPMG is currently seeking a Tax Intern for their New York Financial Services (NYFS) Information Reporting &Withholding practice in Business Tax Services.
Responsibilities:
Help perform tax-related tasks including tax compliance for a variety of clients that are hedge funds, private equity funds, venture funds or other registered funds.
Support assignments including data analytics using KPMG technology, creation of tax return work papers and tax returns for alternative investment clients and coordination of offshore resources.
Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to develop and sustain excellent client relationships.
Keep up to date on current tax issues and opportunities.
Build capabilities in key technologies that enable tax professionals for client service delivery such as artificial intelligence (AI), Alteryx, Power BI, and more.
Training & development
Throughout the internship, interns will engage in tax compliance tasks for hedge funds, private equity funds, and other investment clients. You will leverage KPMG's technology for data analytics and tax return preparation, collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team to build strong client relationships, stay updated on current tax issues, and develop proficiency in technologies such as AI, Alteryx, and Power BI for enhanced client service delivery.

About you
Qualifications:
Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing the following degrees/majors: Bachelor and Master in business, accounting, finance, taxation, mathematics, economics, information technology, data and analytics, engineering (financial, industrial or systems), or equivalent program.
Preferred are Degrees and/or areas of study Accounting and Taxation
Pursuing educational requirements for CPA licensure in the principal place of business (the state in which the office is located) for this position (completion of academic credits required before starting as a Tax Associate)
Preferred GPA of 3.0 or above.
Coursework or minor in information systems, software engineering, computer science or data and analytics preferred.
Demonstrated a quality service mindset, strong technical aptitude, and critical thinking skills, with the ability to navigate MS Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
Excellent communication, time management and leadership skills; flexible and adaptable team player; and resourceful in delivering high-quality work.
Ability to learn and navigate technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), Alteryx and Power BI.
Must reside within a reasonably commutable distance to the office for this position and be able to travel to reasonably commutable work locations using own means of transportation, such as a personal vehicle or public transportation.
Ability to travel and/or work on-site at client premises as needed, at times with relatively short notice
