KPMG is currently seeking an Associate to join our Ignition practice.
Responsibilities:
- Work with internal stakeholders and external clients to:
- Identify business challenges
- Understand operational, data, and information requirements for tax processes while understanding technology environment and interfaces
- Develop recommendations and innovative, technology-driven approaches for improvement including optimizing resources, processes and controls, and technology
- Work toward specialization of various ERP, low code / no code technologies, generative AI, tax systems, and tax applications to help KPMG Tax Ignition develop competency in these areas and leverage these technologies to implement solutions to business problems
- Collect and extract complex datasets from various source systems and file types, load datasets into various software platforms and tools and perform cleaning, normalization, aggregating, and combining of data sets into usable forms; test for accuracy and completeness, reconcile and analyze data, visualize, report and communicate results
- Actively participate in proof of concepts, workshops, hackathons, and vendor product evaluations as well as help prepare documentation and analytical reports that effectively summarize and present procedures, assumptions, and conclusions using Word, Visio, PowerPoint, and other applications
- Develop and manage individual project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables within a collaborative environment with clients, member firms, and other team members
Qualifications:
- Must be pursuing and have obtained by the start date or have completed the following degrees/majors in the past 12 months: Bachelors and/or Masters degree in Accounting, Tax, Business Analytics, Data & Analytics, Economics, Finance, Management Information Systems, Statistics, or a related field from an accredited college or university
- Preferred GPA of 3.0 or above
- Demonstrated quality service mindset; strong technical aptitude, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills and ability to navigate MS Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook
- Basic knowledge of one or more technologies such as Excel, VBA, Power Query/Power Pivot, Alteryx, Tableau, Qlik, Power BI, generative AI, SharePoint, R, Python, SQL Server, SAP, Oracle, ONESOURCE tax applications, Corptax, Longview
- Coursework or other experience working with relational databases such as SQL Server or Oracle, supporting large data sets, including extraction from source systems, data cleansing and transformations, and providing preliminary descriptive and advanced analytics findings to business challenges preferred
- Excellent communication, time management, quantitative, and leadership skills; flexible and adaptable team player; and resourceful in delivering high-quality work
- Must reside within a reasonably commutable distance to the office for this position and be able to travel to reasonably commutable work locations using own means of transportation, such as a personal vehicle or public transportation
- Ability to travel and/or work on-site at client premises as needed, at times with relatively short notice
