Your role

Responsibilities:

  • Assist internal team members in tax planning for businesses, including identifying and developing tax savings opportunities (income/franchise, sales/use) that arise from legal entity changes and in designing specific plans to help a business address its state and local tax matters
  • Help analyze the state and local tax ramifications of various transactions, including mergers and acquisitions or assisting clients with identifying and negotiating business incentives and available credits
  • Stay current on state legislative, judicial, and administrative developments
  • Assist multi-state companies with state and local tax issues including compliance, advising, planning, and controversies
  • Help internal team members with tax issues related to income and franchise taxes, as well as sale, use, and property taxes; help prepare and/or review state income tax estimated payments, extensions, and tax returns
  • Assist in addressing notices received from state tax authorities; research and draft technical memoranda related to compliance issues
  • Build capabilities in key technologies that enable tax professionals for client service delivery such as artificial intelligence (AI), Alteryx, Power BI, and more

About you

Qualifications:

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing the following degrees/majors: Bachelors and/or Masters in accounting, finance, taxation, mathematics, economics, information technology, data and analytics, engineering (financial, industrial or systems), or equivalent program
  • Preferred: Degrees and/or areas of study: Accounting and Taxation
  • Pursuing educational requirements for CPA licensure in the principal place of business (the state in which the office is located) for this position (completion of academic credits required before starting as a Tax Associate)
  • Preferred GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Strong tax research skills
  • Demonstrated quality service mindset; strong technical aptitude, critical thinking skills, and ability to navigate MS Office applications including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook
  • Excellent communication, time management, and leadership skills; flexible and adaptable team player; and resourceful in delivering high-quality work
  • Ability to learn and navigate technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), Alteryx, and Power BI
  • Must reside within a reasonably commutable distance to the office for this position and be able to travel to reasonably commutable work locations using your own means of transportation, such as a personal vehicle or public transportation
  • Ability to travel and/or work on-site at client premises as needed, at times with relatively short notice
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based visa sponsorship now or in the future. Compensation & benefits

The salary for this role ranges from $56,000 to $84,000 per year.
