It takes time and working experience to get promoted which makes sense, but sometimes it is too strict on the year of experience , so some grads managed to go to other companies to get faster promotion or increase in salary.

I think promotion depends on whether others appreciate and recognize the results that you have delivered. if i was to apply for a promotion, i'll also need to write a justification on why i think i deserve a promotion.
it's much easier to apply for a promotion if someone leaves the team as you're filling in the gap.
Graduate, Sydney - 13 Sep 2024
I have been given a lot of opportunity to make a name for myself in this short time and have been supported in creating opportunity for myself.
Intern, Sydney - 09 Apr 2024
Clear paths for growth. i can look around and see ex grads at various levels of the organization.
Graduate, Sydney - 09 Apr 2024
There is a job board that regularly posts open opportunities for you to apply for, or there is a yearly review process where you may get a promotion based on your performance, but this would only be every couple of years.
Graduate, Sydney - 09 Apr 2024
So far we don't really know how this works.

It seems like it's not too bad to progress from a junior to experienced engineer within a networks, it or software role, but progressing further than this seems hard as from my experience there are a vast majority of people in networks that plateau at a 'senior' engineer level with limited salary and role improvement opportunities, but it is hard to know at this point
Graduate, Sydney - 31 Oct 2023
I feel getting a broad range of experiences through the rotations and being able to connect and network with these different team members helps significantly with your ability to know people and find the right roles and opportunities for you. as a grad you have a good reputation and it can help you progress quicker from what i have seen.

The company sets out quite a direct career path.
the company has quite a robust performance management system that is uniform, and easily understood by the whole group. this is taken into account when opportunities arise for promotion. the company is also clear on what they expect in regards to aligning and demonstrating our key behaviours.
rolling off the program, grads are offered roles in alignment with their interest, and our company currently has senior directors who used to be graduates.

There are some caps for movements (can't move up too many levels at once), some graduates really move up the ranks quickly (from graduate to director level in less than 10 years)
Graduate, Sydney - 31 Oct 2023
Networking is key when it comes to career mobility. being a cultural fit for the team is often just as important as functional competence.
Graduate, Sydney - 30 Oct 2023
Some of the grad alumni got promoted to manager or even director level within 5-7 years

There are always oppurtunities to explore your career vertically or horizontally (i.e. promotions or other career avenues), i have never gotten the impression that people are stopped from exploring career progression opportunities. the only thing is that for grads, once you are placed in a business unit (i.e. it), you cannot do your rotation outside of that general area. this is not personally a problem for me as i want to stay in it, but it kind of boxes grads in a bit.
Graduate, Sydney - 30 Oct 2023
Promotion opportunities are available when we roll off the graduate program.
what it takes to move up the ranks:being part of the right projects and being recognised for your contribution to that project. being able to deliver financial benefit within a short amount of time.
Graduate, Sydney - 30 Oct 2023
Following the 2 year graduate program (x3 rotations over 2 years), we are guaranteed a permanent position within the same bu. from here, if you remain a high potential, there is the opportunity to participate in the exchange program or look at internal mobility options. we have an internal job board where people can apply or refer others to roles.
from my understanding, a lot of the career progression is about having the right people know about you & your career aspirations as there are many internal promotions.
Graduate, Sydney - 30 Oct 2023
Promotion opportunities are ok.
Graduate, Sydney - 30 Oct 2023
As a grad it is not guaranteed that i will receive a job after i finish the grad program. but i am not stressing because i feel confident that through my network i will be able to secure something even if it is in another company. i also feel that my colleagues will help guide me in securing a job after the grad program.
Graduate, Sydney - 30 Oct 2023
Although the grad program description promises permanent roles after the program, the lack of documentation and communication has made it difficult for me to imagine what promotion after the program is like
Graduate, Sydney - 30 Oct 2023
Promotion opportunities are limited at the moment with a tight budget and limited vacant roles. to move up the ranks you must wait for someone to leave or move roles so that a position becomes vacant. it is rare that new roles are created.
Graduate, Sydney - 30 Oct 2023
Experience and enthusiasm, networking and going above and beyond to be recognised in your role.
