Please tell us about promotion possibilities and fill us in on what it takes to move up the ranks.
Seems like majority of the responsibility to find a roll of position is on the graduate. Haven't seen any written confirmation that a roll off position will be offered after the completion of the grad program. Limited head count in desired teams leaves you potentially stuck in a role you are not entirely invested in, would seek employment elsewhere.

At the end of the graduate program you do have to find a permanent position to move into and from there can move up the ranks focusing on technical work with end goal to become a principal engineer. The other option is to focus on people management, becoming a team lead then further upwards is possible. Either direction has multiple steps and fit into my aspirations.

As a 3rd-year grad and a PhD, I feel I should be encouraged to move into a role. However, after reaching out to different teams, it seems they prefer I complete the grad program first, which feels a bit unfair for someone with a PhD.

I don't see there is much opportunity after 2 years in the company. Last year many graduates that came to the end of the graduate program struggled to get a position at Origin. I have spoken to my previous lead to demonstrate interest in case new position open up in the team, however it doesn't look like we don't have budget for another head count. I have one more year in the graduate program, however, no one has explained well what will happen at the end of the 3rd year. I feel very disappointed with this, and I might start looking for a position in another company in the next 6months, because there are too much uncertainties.

Currently not satisfied. Full time positions are not readily available for graduates completing the program and pay is below what can be obtained for same roles in a lateral move to different a company
Graduate, Brisbane - 19 Mar 2025
Able to explore as a graduate student all different roles of the company. Which enables you to have a great idea of where you want to end up after the three years.
Graduate, Brisbane - 19 Mar 2025
There seems to be a lot of opportunity for growth in the company, with many varied roles avaliable.

Still unsure as to what is involved/the options and paths available for career progression. Speculating on what it takes to move up the ranks however, I would say obtaining RPEQ status and then TA2 status would greatly assist in moving in a lead or staff engineer role.

promotion it's the yearly bonus some people gets it some people not depends on their performance and office attendance
Graduate, Melbourne - 14 Mar 2025
rating of 5 (in the middle) as there hasn't been a specific career progression opportunity to assess how satisfied I am. At the moment as graduate, we are just going through the three-year program. Career progression opportunities is most likely to be more evident after the graduate program.
Graduate, Brisbane - 13 Mar 2025
The graduate program is too long, takes 3 years to finish. Compared to other people i know doing graduate programs in other companies, this one is both the least flexible when it comes to talking about terminating the program earlier and the longest one i know off. I do think i picked up good skills during my rotations but maybe doing 6-8 months rotations instead 1 year rotations would make it a lot better.

good exposure around the business, but hard to comment on "moving up the ranks" as there isn't that opportunity in the grad program so can't speak on the possibility of progressing in career
