Application Process & Interviews at Schneider Electric Australia & New Zealand

Please describe the interview process and assessments.
Interview process and assessments were standard of what you would expect for a graduate program. Though, results of after assessments / contract provided could have been clearer on when the expected date was. Though, I do understand that with a large pool of applicants, and the intake of interns and graduates are only 2 months apart, the hiring team can get very busy.

Standard graduate hiring process. Initial resume/cover letter submission, video Interview & games, case study, and interview with the manager. Overall, I found the experience straight forward. They actually tailored the manager to interview me based on my answers in the video interview beforehand, which impressed me. However, I did hear that the candidates that did not receive an offer were left in the dark.

Online interview with a recorded answer. Then an invitation to an assessment centre where we were asked to do a group presentation on short notice. Then individual interviews.

I started at Schneider as an intern, however my interview process was slightly different to most as I wasn't onboarded with the rest of the cohort at the start of the year, but rather towards the end of the year. This meant

Applied directly to the Benalla office and conducted interview there Interview was well conducted with an HR representative on zoom. Answered a series of questions relating to the business and previous experience followed by factory tour. Normal graduate application process is different

The hiring process for myself was really impressive. The hiring process involved an online assessment, in-person group assessment and an interview. This process moved very smoothly and was completed quickly. Communication from each stage of the hiring process was satisfactory.

The hiring process is straightforward compared to other companies' graduate programs. Typically, we only have three rounds: online application, online assessment and interview and the final assessment centre and 1-on-1 interview (on the same day).

What questions were you asked in your interviews?
How would you rate your time management? Where do you see yourself in 3-5 years? Why Schneider?

It was an informal chat with the manager while he did have some standard interview questions prepared. For example, why do you want to join the team and Schneider Electric? Are you willing to learn?

The interview was quite standard, with questions about my prior experience and skills I gained, how my university degree would apply to the role, what drew me to apply at Schneider, how I work in groups vs individually etc. I was also given scenarios and asked how I would overcome them, e.g 'If you were in a uni group project, and your team members were not contributing their fair load of work, how would you react and what steps would you take.'

Schneider Electric is a big company made up of different businesses. You should research a business unit that you want to do a rotation in. It lets the hiring team know the best team to put in based on your skills and your interests.

Research the company, speak to other grads about what they enjoy, look into the values and CSR statements the business has, think about how you can link your skills and knowledge from uni to your role.

Engage with the core values of the company. Read them beforehand and reflect on how they're important to you. Think deeper than the surface level and really try to get at how they align with your values.

Be confident and be who you are. I understand interviews may put pressure on people, but everyone is different. You might think someone has some essential skills that you don't have. But you also have skills and shining points that others may not have. I suggest preparing some behavioural questions and having a deep understanding of Schneider Electric.

Always have a story to tell. Prepare interview responses for common/basic questions - have powerful points. Don't just focus on positives, it is fine to do negatives when asked but you have to end on a positive note - what was learned from the negative?

I'd say enjoy having a conversation with the hiring manager. The hiring managers want to get to know you and see how you align with the company, and the best way to do that is to be authentic.
