Project Support Officer at Services Australia

6.30 AM
There’s one thing in my routine that’s unwavering and it’s that I’ll snooze my first alarm every day. Luckily, gone are the days of fixed hours, but the aim is to get in to work by 8.00 am.
8.00 AM
I walk into the office, naturally with one thought: is it the day I start using the stash of black coffee that’s sitting in my drawer or will I treat myself to something more fancy from the local cafe? The latter usually wins.
8.30 AM
I like to think of this early morning period as my ‘power hour’. Usually, it’s quiet in the office before 9.00 am so I use my first hour of the morning to hunker down, read and respond to emails and continue working on a priority task.
9.30 AM
The day keeps rolling on and there’s loads of work, which might include:
10.30 AM
Now seems like a good time for a chat with colleagues – I find networking to be one of the most important and fun parts of being a grad.
10.45 AM
Work, work, work, snack, typing, typing, typing…
12.30 PM
Time to take a break. For lunch, it’s a BYO ham, cheese and tomato toasty and it hits the spot every single time. A perfect match with a perfect toast is to scroll through the endless content on my phone.
1.00 PM
Back to work. I use the afternoon to try and put together documents using customer data. Typically, it’s something using Microsoft PowerPoint or Excel.
With Excel, I might analyse specific customer data to help implement improvements to systems and applications.
In PowerPoint, I’ll create presentations and communication material to present outcomes of data trials and other relevant information.
4.00 AM
Time to clock off! If it’s a Monday, I’m heading home to take a walk and wind down for the day. If it’s a Friday, I’ll head out to the city for the best happy hour deals with colleagues, before heading home for the weekend.
