HR Graduate at Services Australia
Bachelor of Commerce/Bachelor of Arts at Deakin University
6.00 AM
Wake up, gym time!
7.00 AM
Breakfast and coffee.
7.20 AM
I catch the train from Geelong to the office in Melbourne.
8.30 AM
I log in and check my mailbox. Part of my duties as a graduate include checking, sorting and filing emails in our team’s mailbox.
9.00 AM
Now it’s time for our team stand-up (team meeting). I usually catch up with my team on Microsoft Teams to go through the priorities of that day and share any issues or concerns each team member has.
10.00 AM
I catch up with my supervisor and work towards our goals for that day.
10.15AM
Time for a coffee break!
10.30 AM
I continue to work on allocated tasks.
I get the opportunity to work in 2 different teams, each providing unique experiences and learning opportunities.
I particularly enjoy contributing to the recruitment process by ensuring we had enough available interviewers and that the schedules ran smoothly. I also enjoy supporting the ‘keeping warm’ strategies to engage potential candidates.
I find it rewarding to develop and update the work health and safety policies, including collaborating with stakeholders to confirm key information.
I appreciate the variety in my work as a graduate and the chance to develop different skills.
12.30 PM
Lunch break.
I meet with other graduates in the tearoom. We usually have lunch together, sharing our experiences and supporting each other with any concerns we may have.
1.00 PM
I go back to the team’s mailbox to action and file any emails that I can.
2.00 PM
Working on allocated tasks
I continued to work on my allocated tasks assigned by my supervisor through our planner. I review the team's task list and my own to-do list, prioritising the most important tasks and working through them accordingly.
3.45 PM
I have the last catch-up of the day with my supervisor. By the end of the day, I make sure I reach out to keep them updated on what actions and tasks have been completed and what my plan is for tomorrow.
4.30 PM
It’s time to get on the train and head back home.
5.45 PM
I arrive home from the office around this time and take my dog for a walk.
6.30 PM
Time for dinner and relaxing while I watch my favourite TV show.
10:30 pm
Bedtime!
