We then have a casual all-hands in meeting, where we get updates on what’s happening in our branch and division. We always wrap up with a bit of fun, usually some games.

6.45 AM

My alarm goes off at 6.45 am... but let’s be real, I hit snooze a few times and finally roll out of bed at 7.00 am.

7.00 AM

I start the day with a workout—it’s the best way to wake up properly and means I can have a cruisy evening.

8.00 AM

I rush home from the gym, quickly get ready for work, pack my gear and head straight out the door.

8.30 AM

Driving through Canberra in the morning is always a nice way to start the day—the sunrise over the valleys is pretty unreal.

9.00 AM

I arrive at the office, say g’day to my coworkers and have a quick yarn before setting up for the day. First things first: checking emails, Microsoft Teams messages, my calendar and the incident queue.

9.30 AM

I jump into a meeting with our vendors to work out how we can get the most out of their tech, making our services simpler and more efficient.

10.30 AM

A quick coffee break with a coworker. It’s always good to step away from the screen for a bit and have a chat.

10.45 AM

Time to get stuck into my projects. This involves reading through documentation, raising change requests and doing risk assessments.

11.30 AM

Most of my day is spent implementing code changes, testing our work and troubleshooting any issues, making sure everything is good to go before deployment.

1.00 PM

I duck home for lunch and finish the rest of my workday from home.

1.45 PM

I get into a meeting with a coworker to go over the latest changes and problem-solve any issues together.

3.00 PM

We then have a casual all-hands in meeting, where we get updates on what’s happening in our branch and division. We always wrap up with a bit of fun, usually some games.

3:30 pm

Back into work mode, finalising tasks and preparing for an upcoming release. I’m always bouncing ideas off my team online, picking up new skills along the way.

5.20 PM

I log off for the day, unwind by scrolling on my phone (yep, TikTok) and squeeze in a quick nap.

6.00 PM

I get up, do some chores and start prepping dinner.

6.30 PM

My partner and I head out for some fresh air—rain, hail, or shine. We like to mix it up between Lake Burley Griffin, Mount Jerrabomberra, and Googong Foreshore.

7.30 PM

We cook together—well, my partner does most of the cooking, while I handle the cleaning and laundry (I’m not a good cook, so it’s a good trade-off).

8.00 PM

Sometimes, I work overtime to deploy changes. As a large agency, and because almost everyone’s dependent on our services, we do this outside of business hours to avoid disruptions.

9.30 PM

We finally sit down to eat and binge some TV. This is followed by a bit of reading, some more scrolling and just chilling out.

12.00 AM

I suddenly remember I’ve got work tomorrow—time to get some shut-eye!
