Your Role
This internship is located in the Office of the Assistant-General for Human Resources (OASG OHR) in the Department of Management Strategy, Policy and Compliance (DMSPC) in New York. The intern will report to the Special Assistant to the Assistant Secretary-General or the Human Resources Officer.
Liaise with different offices regarding individual communications requests and provide assistance with the review and publication of OHR communication material (incl. articles, and broadcasts)
Assist with proofreading and editing of content for print, web and multimedia, events, and publications
Assist with web content updates
Make proposals and suggestions to improve on web graphics and design (create graphics, logos, and digital material as necessary)
Evaluate the adequacy of existing records management and reference tools, participate in record-keeping improvement projects, and make recommendations
Assist in drafting notes, speech-writing, messaging, preparation of reports and background documents
Provide statistics and run reports related to the work of the office as requested; Assist in preparing presentation materials including graphs, charts, excel tables, and PowerPoint slides
Assist with the review of staff recommended for placement in view of the requirements to laterally reassign staff subject to mission downsizing
Assist with other HR strategy implementation
Perform other related duties, as required.
About You
Qualifications/special skills:
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher)
Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent)
Educational background or exposure to human resources, public administration, or related issues is desirable.
Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.
Applicants must be students in the final year of their first university degree (bachelor's or equivalent), Master’s, or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PH.D. Programme.

Educational background or exposure to human resources, public administration or related issues is desirable.
Languages:
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this internship, fluency in English is required. Fluency in French is desirable. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.

Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions. Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the country where the internship is undertaken may be required to obtain the appropriate visa and work/employment authorization. Successful candidates should discuss their specific visa requirements before accepting the internship offer.
