Your Role

Responsibilities

The Intern may be responsible for the following duties:

  • STRATEGIC COMMUNICATIONS
    • Contribute to the maintenance of OSAA’s content calendar
    • Contribute to the collection of strategic communication materials from various sources
    • Contribute to the maintenance of Trello boards for OSAA events and/or campaigns ADVOCACY
    • Contribute to the organization of OSAA events, including hybrid and in-person
    • Contribute to the creation/maintenance of distribution lists for media and product outreach
    • Contribute to the coordination of meetings with partners to advance OSAA’s advocacy agenda
  • DIGITAL DESIGN
    • Contribute to the production of data visualizations for OSAA knowledge products
    • Contribute to the design of event flyers, social media assets, and PowerPoint presentations
    • Contribute to the creation of desktop publishing assets for OSAA knowledge products
  • WEBSITE CONTENT MANAGEMENT
    • Contribute to the maintenance of the information architecture on the OSAA website
    • Contribute to the creation, curation, and posting of multimedia content for OSAA’s website
    • Contribute to the enhancement of the language versions of the OSAA website
  • SOCIAL MEDIA
    • Contribute to the creation of multimedia content for OSAA’s official social media accounts
    • Contribute to the monitoring of social media trends related to OSAA’s priorities
    • Contribute to the titling and/or subtitling of short videos used on OSAA’s social media
  • MONITORING & EVALUATION (M&E)
    • Contribute to the compilation of analytics data from OSAA’s website and social media account
    • Contribute to the collection of data from various OSAA surveys
    • Contribute to the testing and research for tools to boost OSAA’s M&E capacity

About You

Qualifications/special skills:

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:

  • Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher)
  • Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent)
  • Interested candidates must be pursuing or pursued their degree in areas related to this Job Opening.
  • In addition, interested candidates must:
    • Be computer literate in standard software applications
    • Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and
    • Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which includes the willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
  • Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.
  • Applicants must be students in the final year of their first university degree (bachelor's or equivalent), Master’s, or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PH.D. Programme.

Languages:

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the internship advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of French is desirable. Knowledge of other official languages of the United Nations is an advantage.

Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions. Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the country where the internship is undertaken may be required to obtain the appropriate visa and work/employment authorization. Successful candidates should discuss their specific visa requirements before accepting the internship offer.

If you want to apply to positions at the Professional and Higher or Field Service levels, they ask you to let at least six months pass after the end of your internship before you submit your application and ensure that you fulfill not only the educational but also the work experience requirements that are outlined in each job opening.
