Your role

Expected duration: 2-6 months

Your responsibilities:

Under the overall guidance of the Human Resources Officer, UN JPO Programme, CDPMO, and the direct supervision of the Associate Programme Management Officer, UN JPO, Programme, the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Assisting in designing, planning, and carrying out data collection for the evaluation of the United Nations JPO Programme.
  • Assisting in liaison with different UN agencies, member states, and former JPOs.
  • Carrying out statistical analyses with the most common packages (SPSS, STATA, R), using a variety of methods to analyze a wide array of variables about the JPO Programme.
  • Preparing a statistical overview report on the JPO Programme for the period 2019-2023 based on the results of the analyses.
  • Fulfill other tasks as required.

About you

Qualifications/special skills:

  • Applicants must meet one of the following requirements;
    • (a) Be enrolled in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); or (c) Have graduated with a university degree (as defined above) and, if selected, must commence the internship within one year of graduation;
  • Applicants are not required to have professional work experience for participation in the internship program. Experience in analyzing statistical data is desirable.
  • Proficiency in the use of databases in MS Access and Excel and statistical software such as SPSS or STATA is desirable. Experience with R is an asset.

Languages:

  • English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship.
  • Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an asset. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, and Spanish are the official languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
