This internship is designed to be in-person and full-time (35 hours) but can be adjusted based on request by the successful candidate.
They seek a motivated and innovative Data Analytics and Visualization Intern to join their team. The intern will analyze human resources data, create insightful visualizations, and support various innovation projects. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in data analytics and project management within the United Nations. This internship position is located in the Staffing, Diversity and Outreach Section (SDOS) in the Strategic Talent Management Service (STMS), Global Strategy and Policy Division (GSPD), Office of Human Resources (OHR), Department of Management Strategy, Policy and Compliance (DMSPC). The intern will report to a Human Resources Officer and work up to five days per week (35 hours). Performance will be measured based on the eagerness to learn, timely delivery, and quality of results. The supervisor will provide bi-monthly feedback and performance reviews.
Shortlisted candidates will receive a dataset related to human resources or workforce analytics. Candidates will be asked to perform specific tasks such as cleaning and organizing the data, performing descriptive and inferential statistical analysis, and creating visualizations to present their findings. Candidates with the most compelling case study submissions will be invited to an interview. The interview will focus on discussing their case study approach, understanding their problem-solving and analytical skills, and assessing their fit with the team and organizational culture. Based on the case study performance and interview, the potential candidate will be selected for the internship.
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish are the official languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
The United Nations does not financially remunerate interns. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions. Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the country where the internship is undertaken may be required to obtain the appropriate visa and work/employment authorization. Successful candidates should discuss their specific visa requirements before accepting the internship offer.
This internship is unpaid in person and full-time.
