Recruitment Process

Our recruitment experience for nbn’s Graduate Program is all about connecting with you and seeing what makes you unique. We aim to spot your talent, match it to the best role, and understand your strengths.

Interested? Here’s what you can expect from our selection process:

1. Apply online

  • If the nbn Graduate Program is calling your name, hit that apply button. Make sure you've got your resume and academic transcript (or Statement of Results) ready to upload. Pick the career pathway that speaks to you – it's crucial to check out all the options before diving in.

2. Complete our online assessment

  • If your application is successful, you'll be asked to tackle three online assessments. These are quick, 45-minute tasks you can do from home. We get to see how you solve problems and think on your feet, while you gain insights into what makes you shine.

3. Record a digital interview

  • A successful online assessment leads to a digital interview. You’ll be asked a series of short, pre-recorded questions and will need to respond to the frontward-facing camera on your computer or mobile.
  • It’s your opportunity to showcase yourself, including why you’re interested in joining nbn, and about your skills and experience.
  • You'll receive an email invite with instructions and a 72-hour deadline – be sure to monitor your emails. (If you miss the deadline, please reach out to us at recruitment@nbnco.com.au)

4. Join a virtual interview

  • If you've made it this far, you'll now be invited to take part in a virtual interview with nbn business leaders. It's your opportunity to shine and talk about your experience, motivations and anything else that's on your mind.
To help you ace your interview, we recommend getting to know the 'STAR' technique and checking out our interview tips here. Best of luck!

5. Final step - Background checks and offer of employment

  • After you’ve aced your interview, it’s time for background checks. This may include a 100-point identification check, Visa Entitlement Verification Online (VEVO) and eligibility to work confirmation, Anti Money Laundering checks, employment verification, national criminal record check, and reference checks.
  • Once you’ve cleared the background checks, we’ll offer you a place in nbn’s Graduate Program. To make sure you’re all set to get started, our Graduate Program Manager will stay in touch with you until the program kicks off in February.

Keep in touch

To make sure you’re always aware of your application’s progress, please check your registered email address regularly and update your online profile if you move address. We will let you know if, at any stage, your application is unsuccessful. We also recommend keeping an eye on our nbn careers page for other opportunities of interest.

  • Working at this company has been an absolute joy, thanks in large part to the amazing environment that's been created here. • Very friendly and laid-back culture with flexible working arrangements.
  • Being able to complete rotations. I feel like this helped me gain a better understanding of the different teams within the business unit and which team suites me better. And the culture too.
  • Somewhat slow onboarding process. Takes some time to figure out the permissions required but can be rectified quickly.
  • The bureaucracy (is going to be a thing for all enterprises)
  • There are a lot of meeting that we have attend during our day to day, sometimes the meetings seem repetitive.
  • Many of my days are packed full of meetings, which can sometimes hinder my ability to achieve tasks and carry out my responsibilities.
  • Meeting culture is prevalent in my experience, but experience does vary between teams.
