Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islanders at Chevron Australia
At Chevron, we are a proud advocate of diversity in the workforce, and we support an inclusive workplace that values the diversity of ideas. We strive to create an inclusive workplace where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories and cultures are understood and respected, and where cultural diversity is celebrated.
Chevron Australia launched our inaugural Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) in December 2019. In March 2025, we launched a refreshed Reconciliation Action Plan for 2025-2027. Our RAP sets out a framework to drive Chevron’s contribution to reconciliation, both within the organisation and the communities in which we work. Our vision for reconciliation is an Australia where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples participate and benefit from the social and economic opportunities created by developing energy that improves lives and powers the world forward.
For thousands of years, the location of Chevron’s Australian headquarters at Elizabeth Quay (Gumap) in Perth (Boorloo) was a place of gathering. Incorporating and honouring the cultural heritage of this site encapsulates the spirit of reconciliation, offering an opportunity to build understanding and respect for Aboriginal culture, histories, and knowledge of anyone who attends the building, in any capacity.
Those meeting and working on this land today echo those who gathered in this same place in the past to share information and celebrate achievements. Anyone who visits will see or experience elements that convey the profound respect Chevron has for the Aboriginal people who first came together on this land.
For members of the workforce and visitors who are Aboriginal, the building is a place of welcome, where they will see authentic and respectful connections to their culture and history. They can be assured that the considerations given to cultural safety during design and construction mean they can feel safe in their identity and experience, and that Chevron’s workplace is one of shared respect and knowledge.
