Gender Equality at CyberCX
CyberCX is committed to increasing gender diversity in our workforce. We know that diversity leads to better decision-making, more inclusive teams, increased innovation and better business outcomes. We also know that Australia’s cyber security workforce needs to reflect the community we seek to safeguard and secure.
CyberCX has made progress in improving gender diversity in our company. Women’s representation in the CyberCX Academy program has increased from 27 to 47 per cent since commencing the program in July 2022. This has been achieved without quotas or interventions in the recruitment process. For context, the industry average is reported at 21%, which means CyberCX is 26% above the industry average when it comes to those identifying as female or gender diverse in the cybersecurity industry. CyberCX is also proud to have successfully launched two All-Women intakes for the CyberCX Academy program, demonstrating our commitment to improving women and gender diverse individual representation across our workforce and the industry more broadly.
In 2023, we were recognised at the Australian Women in Security Awards as a finalist for the “Best Industry Initiative that supports Diversity, Inclusion and Equality”.
Although CyberCX's core pillar of diversity and inclusion initiatives is to drive better gender equality across our workforce and the industry more broadly, it's the CyberCX Academy program's mission to consider and provide opportunities to absolutely anyone who has a keen interest in commencing a career in cybersecurity.
CyberCX Academy Associates come from diverse backgrounds that reflect the communities CyberCX serves. Many of our best Academy Associates are people who have started a career elsewhere and made a switch to cyber security, bringing experience from nursing, hospitality, project management, retail, teaching and other professions.
